AJEA seeks to recognise courage and commitment of journalists to the collection, investigation, processing of data and information in a professional manner for the benefit of media audiences. The Awards are an opportunity to showcase the outstanding contributions of journalists, from across the country, to the Kenyan society and audiences at large.

3. How can I get entry information?

Visit https://ajea.mediacouncil.or.ke/. All entries must be submitted using our online entry system.

4. Must I be accredited to submit an entry?

AJEA accepts submissions from MCK accredited Media Practitioners and journalists practicing in Kenya. Entrants may be of any nationality but work must have been published or broadcast in Kenya on a platform that publishes or broadcasts regularly.

6. Why must a photograph of the entrant be submitted with the entry?

These photographs become part of our press packet if the entrant is shortlisted as an AJEA Winner.

7. What are the criteria for the judging of AJEA 2024?

There general judging criteria for the judging of AJEA is guided by adherence to ethics of journalism, creativity and innovation, diversity of sourcing, depth of story, and uniqueness and impact to society.

8. What happens to my submitted stories after the Awards ceremony?

AJEA website is a repository for winning work as a proud display of journalism excellence. The content may also be used as training content for upcoming journalists and media practitioners.

9. Who are the judges for AJEA?

AJEA judges are drawn each year from a pool of seasoned editors, journalists and members of the academia with relevant experience but are not affiliated to any media house, and are not in current journalism practice in the media.
